Intellectual Property

We work in collaboration with our clients to identify, value and protect their intangible assets, thus ensuring that they can obtain the maximum value from them.

We are IP Agents authorized by the uruguayan Patent and Trademark Office. We provide trademarks, patents and software filing services before the national office, as well as abroad through a professional network with whom we work in permanent collaboration.

We have extensive experience in advising and negotiating complex intellectual property contracts, as well as in conducting all administrative, civil and/or criminal actions necessary for the protection against unfair competition, intellectual property infringement and counterfeiting.

New Technologies and Digital Law

We advise companies in the technology field on contractual and regulatory compliance matters. We offer advice on personal data protection, information security, software contracts and regulation of information and communication technologies.

Company Advise

We provide advice to cover all the needs of the company in corporate and tax matters, as well as in the relations with its employees, third parties or the State.

Litigation

We have a team with extensive experience in litigation before judicial and administrative authorities. We represent our clients’ interests on disputes related to their commercial or personal activity, in proceedings against third parties or the government.

Labour Law

Manuel Graña Gianoni

Manuel is a lawyer (J.D.) graduated from Universidad de la República (Uruguay) and holds an LL.M in Intellectual Property, Competition and New Technologies from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Spain).

He has focused mainly on advising companies and research centers in the public and private sector. He has extensive experience in the preparation and negotiation of complex contracts; legal auditing; advice on regulatory compliance; representation in litigation and anticounterfeiting actions; as well as acting as IP Agent before the uruguayan patent and trademark office.

He is a professor in charge of the IP subject in Bachellor and Engineering degrees in Biotechnology at Universidad ORT.

Javier Graña Gianoni

Javier is a lawyer (J.D.) graduated from the Universidad de la República (Uruguay) and holds an LL.M in Governance and Human Rights from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain).

He has extensive experience in litigation and in the areas of Civil, Family and Labor Law, among others.

He has specialized in International Human Rights Law advising organizations committed to the promotion and defense of Human Rights, as well as individuals or groups in matters of reparation and the exercise of mechanisms and procedures against human rights abuses.

He is an active collaborator of the Baltasar Garzón International Foundation.

Sebastián Penedo Inglés

Sebastián is a lawyer (J.D.) and holds a degree (B.D) in International Studies from Universidad de la República (Uruguay).

He has specialized in advising companies with a focus on Corporate, Tax, Technology and Innovation Law.

His training and experience working within companies in tasks related to regulatory compliance, development and management of international business, allow him to have a comprehensive view of our client's needs.

Gonzalo Graña Gari

Lawyer (J.D) graduated from Universidad de la República with extensive knowledge and experience in the field of Public and Private Law. He is currently retired.

In the public sphere he worked as Legal Advisor in the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (Uruguay), later as Director of the Legal Department of the Municipality of Paysandú and advisor to the Congress of Mayors of Uruguay.

In the private sphere he dedicated to the practice of his profession with a focus on Civil, Labor and Administrative Law. His knowledge and professional experience, as well as the personalized care for our clients that always characterized him, were and consolidate the foundations of GRAÑA Abogados.
